Thankyou Sir !
30 years ago today the General Belgrano was sunk and I was sweet 16!
30 years ago Barry Prudom was at large in Malton which was an area in which my family had spent plenty of time for various reasons.
Reading Falklands threads elsewhere, surprised me in that a lot of the posters admitted to being too young to remember it and I mention the other matter as younger people, with an interest in the military, will find the wiki entry most interesting.
I spent last week on holiday in Whitby, which was in the UK media, for all the wrong reasons, and it set me off thinking about Prudom & led to my subsequent wiki research.
As I have got older I find threads of my life linking up and what shook me was reading that Prudom was in a TA SAS regiment in Leeds before being chucked out.
Now in 1994/5 I was working for a hotelier who had been at one point in the SAS based in Leeds, which was a story that was talked about amongst the staff but not confirmed, and this confirms that there was a regiment based there!
All the best Roy
