remember that museum i visited at the start of the week?.....it had a selection of kits in the gift shop and i was hanging my nose over a 1/48 Polikarpov................since i had to go to work today and this place was only 5 minutes drive away i gave in and called in to buy it.........

except.....................

when i got there, as i walked in the guy remembered me, got talking as you do and he said that they had a model sale going on in the hanger!

seems that about three weeks ago an old fellow turned up and donated his entire stash to the museum!! .......around 500 kits!!! :ohmy :ohmy :ohmy

so i went and had a look (would have been rude not to  ) now bear in mind i walked in at 3-15....there was still around 400 kits on the table.......virtually all aircraft.......i guess 75% cold war era........15% modern....10% WW2.......only three kits were not aircraft related and i bought one of them lol.....the old feller must have had a Phantom fetish cos there was about 40 kits of all kinds/brands of Phantom but its not my sort of thing but i did get these. what they dont sell is going into the shops stock....dont think the Airfix rep is going to be doing much business for a while

ive got out of doing aircraft and i honestly think its cos im finding 1/72 too small (and dont forget i love braille scale armour lol ) which is why i was going in the first place for a 1/48 plane

bit of haggling and i got this lot for 30 quid! would have got more but swmbo had given me a strict budget

Esci Renault 5 in 1/24.....this has been oop for years

Posted Image

Esci Skyhawk in 1/48....two USN and one Aussie scheme

Posted Image

Hasegawa Spit 1/32...where im going to put this i dont know but i really want to crack it open and make a start on it lol

i was actually bewildered at what was there.....couldnt make my mind up cos i had to stick to the budget...............there was a 1/48 Tutor in Snowbird scheme i nearly got instead of the Skyhawk........and a 1/48 Sabredog (and the table was set up next to the museums Sabredog!)..........and the mint huge scale Matchbox Tiger Moth...............list was endless

why couldnt i have won the lottery last night :bang:

That R5 is a cracking little kit Paul. I have one too (a newer release) but have also done that version. The Skyhawk is pretty good too.

As for me, I picked up the Airfix 1/24 Harrier GR1/3/AV-8A yesterday at East Kirkby for £25.

ready for the Harrier GB?
I doubt it. Firstly I need to get the Flightpath upgrade set which is £55 :gob and then I'm going to need about 6 months at least to put it together...

Also, can't decide whether to do and RAFG machine or a Falklands one....

Edit: will look at the Heritage stuff at Southwell later this month too, altho, looking on the website, it doesn't look that good.

Edit:Edit: Looking at what you get in the Flightpath set I don't see why I can't scratchbuild most of that. I have some good references for Harriers..... :dead
