Builder of aircraft, any scale from 1:1 to 1:144!
|
Not bought, but a little tale that restored my faith in humanity a tiny bit. The 1/72 Constellation I mentioned a couple of pages back which I bought at Newark for a tenner, the chap selling it had forgotten to put the wheels in the box. It was only when I got home and looked at it properly that I noticed it was minus propellers too! So I got on to my contact at Newark who contacted the chap to ask him to source the props for me too. A week later a parcel arrives, with an apologetic note, the wheels, a set of white metal Aeroclub props, and a book about the Connie which will be useful as a reference. Top chap! |

Really wanted to share this buy as its been near the top of my wanted list for some time. I first saw it a few years back and straight away i knew what scene i wanted to do with it. But as is often the case, i thought theres no rush in buying it. Then 2 or 3 years ago it vanished. Ever since i have usually searched for it at least once a month. But no luck. Then in Feb, one showed up on E-Bay, so of course i was determined to get it. It was due to finish on the Sunday but on the Thursday before our Rooter went down and we didn't get it replaced until the Mon, bloody typical. And it only went for a tenner. Then lo and behold, a few days later, another one came up. It got to £10 and i thought thats fine. Then a couple of days before it was due to end, it went upto 30. Now what. I don't mind buying expensive kits if i think there worth it. But this kit is pretty small and theres a lot of detail. So i put in one of those tentative bids to test the water, and i was the highest bidder at 31. Part of me hoped that i would be outbidded, as i wasn't sure if i was happy paying that much. But of course, i wasn't and i got the kit for £31. So while i was a bit miffed at haveing paid so much, especially when one went for a third of that a couple of weeks before, the other part of me was well happy i had finally got it. So what am i waffeling about. Its the Huma 72nd DFS 230. ![]() My plan is to do an Eben Emael dio with the para's diving out of the aircraft to attack the fort. While i have a few otehr kits on my shopping list, they are kits which have ben around for ever, or are kits i could take or leave or will deffinatly be around in one form or another. So now i have this, and after getting the Me 262A-2a/Us a couple of months ago, that only leave one on my must have list. Unfotunatly, its a Ju 87C in 72nd scale which has never been done as a kit or conversion. But you never know. |

Huma don't seem to be that well known, but they have produced some interesting kits, many of which are still around. They do quite a few Luft 46 kits. I built their Triebflugel last year, and while its a bit low of detail, especially the pit, it was a nice build. This glider kit come with very little detail on the inside, and nothing in the troop compartment. But that shouldn't be to hard to sort out. Its also comes with the fittings for a Mistel version, so if another ever comes up, i might well go for that as well. I don't normally put new kits at the top of my build list, but i might well try and fit this in next year. |

Thats a nice kit. I got mine a couple of years ago, just a few months before it was re released. I don't think i payed much more than that for it. Looking forward to seeing you build it. I got a nice German Atom bomb set to go with mine. |

Postie delivered an AMT Cut Away Millenium Falcon this morning that I won on eBay. I know it's not the most accurate of kits but when built and lit it should look grand. Cheers, Warren |
