I know there's more than likely a long-winded technical answer to this question....but:

Out of these two Hawk variant kits, which would be closest to the Canadian CT-155 Hawk?

airfix did a Canadian version in 48th because it also done an aussie one

Simon is correct. The second one will make a very nice representation of a Canadian Hawk. No modification necessary at all.

Some of the 100 series variants seem to have anywhere between 1 and 4 on each wing.

I'd seen some photos (like that one) but then other schematics seemed to be different.
