As I'm not building much at the moment due to time constraints, I figured I'd contribute some in box reviews.

So I'll start off with the Airfix 1/72 Buccaneer. From what I gather, this kit dates back to about 1989 but has been given some additional parts for the Gulf War and SAAF variants. You do get a fair amount of plastic for your money, and the box is packed full.

This means there does appear to be some variation across the five sprues. The older square sprues have a stronger but perhaps more brittle feel to the plastic, while the rounded new sprues have a bit more flex to them - but far less flash. There is mainly raised detail on the kit, but it's not extensive enough to likely have to worry about when sanding.

The clear sprue was bagged separately keeping it clean and scratch free, and has some nice detail. I actually thought it was scratched, but it turned out to be windscreen detail on the tooling.

The kit features a 19-step clearly laid out instruction set. Also included is the now increasingly common and helpful additional colour scheme chart.

Finally, the decal sheet is all in register and has no more film than neccessary. It's very well printed, with markings, stencils and interior decals - and even the small print letters can be read easily.

I intend to get out my can of Rover Beige and build it in the 1991 Operation Grandby scheme as shown in the box art.

It's a great kit to have back, until we get the 1/48 . Just remember the aircraft code for the "Granby" buccaneer is wrong. If I remember rightly it's for a Gazelle. Also Freightdog Models do a nose, tail and IFR resin replacment set. Also Odds and Ordnance do some stuff especially, If you want to make a nice South African and that's not really suprising mun........ (carrys on singing Spitting Image song). :whistle

I've got the Freightdog set, worth getting for your Bucc as it addresses the big issues with the Airfix kit. I'll post up a pic some time.
