Yes folks it's time for another one of my long winded and rambling reviews which I hope will make any future purchases more enjoyable or at least give you a good laugh!. So then this is Airfix's new tool of the 1/72 Folland Gnat T.1 (A01006)which I have been eagerly looking forward to for ages. The box is the usual flimsy side opening box which I suppose helps keep costs down which maybe is why Airfix can sell this kit for £5.99. Box art top ![]() Full colour bottom(Ohh Matron!) ![]() The sprues consist of two moulded in grey plasti and the third one is clear. These were sealed in a plastic bag but I forgot to take a photograph. Sprue 1 ![]() Sprue 2 ![]() The canopy sprue is in its own little bag to protect and is quite clear. I think this was in the bag with the sprue and not seperate but again I forgot to take a photograph. ![]() ![]() The decals for the only option in this kit are printed by Cartograph so we can be assured that they are quality items. ![]() Although this is quite a small model with a span of 102mm and a length of 155mm and comprises of 49 pieces there are 29 stages of consruction which to me seems like quite a lot. ![]() ![]() Now comes the difficult bit. Why? you may be asking, well this kit appers to have had a trench digger set upon it. While recessed panal lines might be the in thing at the moment on such a small model as this it's going to look like a die-cast toy at the first hint of a wash application. However internal detailing is actually quite good with boxes moulded in the cockpit sides. ![]() ![]() ![]() Conclusion. Despite of what I've said of it I would recommend this kit as for only £5.99 it really is nice kit and with the interesting scheme of the box art I'm sure Airfix are on to a winner with one. The scheme supplied is Central Flying School, Royal Air Force Little Rissington, Gloustershire, The Peoples Republic of China, 1964. Only kidding! it's England really. Mr Jynx. |

The voices told me to do it!

Looks nice I may have to do one as a Red Arrows jet. As I can just remember when I saw the Red's flying Gnat's. |

HUUUUUUGE improvement over the old kit!! And what a bargain price!! There's still a Reds Gnat outside the Reds hangar, but if I get one (or two) they'll be in that nice silver scheme and maybe red/white/grey... |
