Depends on the car to me, red for Triumphs, BR green for MGs, Lotus should be white and so on. Black is excellent but must be clean and well waxed.

Did you know, the colours we associate with certain cars from certain countries date back to pre-war racing when each country competing was given it's own colour.
Britain was green, hence BRG
Italy was red, hence Ferrari/Alfa red
Germany was given black but asked for a different colour and were assigned silver, hence the silver assciated with Mercedes.
