not actually going to be able to make a start on this for a few days, need to finish up whats on the bench to make some room but its had a wash and is drying so it will be ready when i am

why am i doing armour?

i love most things military, love doing braille scale armour but 1/35 intimidates me which is a shame as i have lots of lovely stuff in the stash crying out to be built but i just cant bring myself to do it. its not the building but the weathering that scares the beejasus out of me. the thought of spending all that time building and painting only to cock it up trying to weather it stops me. i have dabbled in the past but i dont think im all that good but as the saying goes, practice makes perfect

why is it a Sherman?

i follow a guy on youtube who is brill at armour, about a year ago he did a Sherman, one of his tutorials was how to scratch build a load with a tarpaulin on the back using air dry clay. i had been given a big box of built armour, most got broken up for the spares box, a couple got turned into whiffs and a couple got used as practice mules but there was a Sherman so i thought i would have a go following his vid. total disaster  no matter how many times i tried it didnt work then i saw someone else doing it with foil from a margarine tub of all things, tried that and it seemed to work.

so i had this 'load' and nothing to put it on when ModelZone had one of thier sales......these Academy 'Russian' Shermans going for a tenner.....i might have another go at the load just for the practice

so this is to try and over come the fear of 1/35 armour, im going to try a few weathering techniques including oil dot filter

This looks like a great kit, looking forward to seeing it done. I'm not allowed any more tanks though, I've been told!

Looking good. I've never been a fan of the Sherman though it does nothing for me sadly.
