I've not taken part in a group build for quite a while.
This is the kit I'm building, having found it in the loft recently:

And having seen them in Red Tails, thought it'd be a nice little kit to make.

Fuselage is together (fit was pretty good)...

...and the wings are on (fit not very good). Also put the nose piece in place, which doesn't seem to line up too well with the intake on the fuselage.

It's not until you build a 1976 Matchbox kit that you realise just how good the modern kits are.

. . . And those of us who were building in 1976 thought the
Matchbox kits were pretty much "shake'n'bake"!

A good start!
I've built a 1976 Airfix F-111 recently and I'm working on a 1974 Tamiya Gun Tractor. The F-111 was a challenge as far as fit goes, but the vehicle is just about perfect - go figure...

I forgot to take some photos while painting.

Here it is post-painting, with props and undercarriage:

And I've just put the decals on. I think the decals are just at the tipping point - if they'd been left a few months more, I reckon they might've been unusable.

A milky-white substance came off them when applied, but wiped off easily. As you can see the carrier film is a bit noticable. So I'll likely weather the sh*t out of it now to cover them.

And with canopy:

Perhaps. A year ago something like that wouldn't have bothered me at all, but now it seems really noticeable to me.

Is this maybe a sign I'm no longer a Padawan learner? :empire
