Seeing FTS's shots on here made me have a look at my shots from this year that I have managed to upload. I still have a load from RIAT and Waddinton that I never processed but will one day when I get a few moments to do so First up, a trip to the RAFAT at RAF Scampton on a cold February day. I understand they have now stopped these tours as there is no longer the manpower to carry them out - A real shame as it was a great few hours. ![]() Next up was a trip to the Mach Loop on Cader Idris East. A slow day but some good shots. ![]() ![]() Moving to April, I had the fortune of getting over the 31 Squadron HAS site when we were showing a guest lecturer around. Took a LOT of shots but i somewhat love this one. ![]() ![]() Again in April, back to Cad East, where we were hoping to get some F-15E's in the Welsh MTA. We were not disappointed and whilst the were not the best passes, they were outshone by us bagging one of the last few F3's before they were sent to Leeming for RTP: ![]() ![]() ![]() May 2012 saw another visit over the 31, i have not included these shots as you are probaby bored of them! I did get over to Northolt for the photoshoot with the Typhoons for the Olympics: ![]() ![]() May also saw myself and a few friends get on RAF Marham for the II (AC) 100 Year Anniversary celebrations: ![]() ![]() May also saw a trip to RAF Coningsby (A rarity for me now i changed jobs and actually have to work for a living!) ![]() ![]() June 2012 saw a cheeky trip to RAF Marham's caravan for 20 mins. ![]() July - RIAT, Waddington and Farnborough - All in three weeks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() August – Back to Wales – this time Bwlch Exit for the awesome passes by Harley 81 en route to Aberporth. I think he was due back through after dropping the bombs but he did not show or got lost! ![]() September 2012 saw a visit to Duxford in the naughty field to get the sun behind me: ![]() ![]() October 2012 – another trip to 31 – this time in darkness ![]() ![]() November 2012 – A trip to RAF Marham at sunset – I have waited 6 years to get these shots ![]() ![]() ![]() November 2012 also saw another trip to the Mach Loop, The Bwlch Exit being the favoured postion due to the sun (or lack of!) ![]() ![]() November also saw a trip to RAF Lakenheath after work to get some night shots – Epic fail as they were on the opposite runway, but still managed to get a couple of keepers. ![]() December 2012 – the final trip to Wales and possibly the best ever weather I have seen there – it was freezing (literally) on the mountainside! Seeing Shiny Two three times in a day LL makes it all worthwhile though! ![]() ![]() ![]() Hope you have enjoyed looking through the shots and wish you a prosperous 2013 |

Honestly, it's amazing how quickly you can go off people sometimes! You've not only had a good photography year, but you've posted some great variety. It's hard to pick favourites from that selection, but the Frecce Tricolori shot and the Tornado in the HAS(?) stand out for me as far as composition goes. For the sheer strength of the colour, I really like the first (Reds) shot. Thanks for posting! Nigel :D |

Fantastic post. I've still yet to do any low level photography. I've been in the Mach Loop doing AT and didn't have my camera with me. Only saw a Hawk the entire time that I was there though so no big loss. I have a mate who used to be on 31 and I visited the squadron when I was retrading a few years back. I didn't take my camera as I was told I had to clear it with the Station Photogs, etc, so i'll hate you as well now! |
