ok, im confused whats the plan with RAF sqns this is how they are at the moment i think sqn 1 - typhoon 2 - tornado 3 - typhoon 4 - hawk t2 5 - sentinal 6 - typhoon 7 - chinook 8 - E-3 9 - tornado 10 - Voyager 11 - typhoon 12 - tornado 13 - tornado 14 - shaddow 15 - tornado 16 - ?Tutor 17 - typhoon / f35 18 - chinook 19 - DISBANDED 20 - DISBANDED ok i could and will go on but ive got to my point, unless a more senior sqn stands down and reforms or a 'special sqn' does the same i.e. 617 will 19 become the next operational sqn? so why did 39sqn take on the reaper should it not have been 19? |

Seniority is based on the age of the squadron, the number of years it's been an operationally active flying squadron (and not as reserve) and also if it was originally as a fixed wing squadron. (For example - 1 Squadron is older than 2 Squadron, but the latter has seniority.) 19 squadron were flying Hawks for 20 years. 39 squadron were operationally active during that time with Canberras. |

reaper 39 sqn so does being a training sqn mean you loose seniority? so in theory older operational sqns could come back |
