1/32nd Scale- is it the new 1/48th?

Having had a near 40 years in the Hobby, I can remember when the likes of Airfix, Monogram, Hasegawa & Tamiya began hitting model shop shelves with 1/48th / quarter scale aircraft kits.

But now as I look at what is (or soon to be) available it seems to me that the same is happening with 1/32nd- who would have thought you would see the day we'd have a variety of models on our shelves, or the annoucement of aircraft such as B17's & Lancasters as injection kits?

I for one, applaud manufacturers boldness for sticking their necks out, although I think that the scale could hve limits.

Well over to you_ what's your thought?

As I no longer build 1/72 it is nice to see a better variety in the larger scales.

I mainly build in 1/48 but have quite a few in 1/32.

Im all for it, if you can house them and have room to build them then why not :D

Its good to have the choice, if you don't like them don't buy them and the opposite is the same.

Ive had to find room for my upcoming 1/32 HE111Z Zwilling and Mistel projects as well as the 1/32 Lancaster that will be here sooner or later.

I stopped doing 1/72 when I realised I couldn't hold the bit with my sausage fingers and I couldn't see them either!
So 1/48 is my scale now, only venturing to 1/72 for larger or unavailable in 1/48 scale kits.
I don't really think I'm ever going to want to do many 1/32 aircraft for both cost and storage reasons. The bigger the kit, the more detail you want to put into it, so the more you will spend on a/m....and so it spirals out of control.....
I enjoyed building my 1/24 Hurricane, and would like to do an Me 109 someday.
I have the Revell 1/32 P-39 in the stash and that's probably all I'd ever do in this scale....fighters...

Same here. I`m now in the process of going over to 1/48 as my body starts to `fail` in certain areas. Although I think I`m still well enough not to go as far as 1/32..... yet! :D

I moved to 1/48th when 1/72nd proved to be beyond my eyesight range but cannot see me ever going to 1/32nd, too many problems displaying them.

I moved to 1/32 some years ago, it's great the range of available kits is expanding to way it is. I still do a few in 1/48 and even the occasional 1/72. I don't think I will be able to display a 1/32 B17 but I don't expect I shall worry about that until after I've built one!

1/32nd is a nice scale, i have a small select stash of them. But i think for most modellers its just to big. The extra time it take to build and the issues with display space are just to much of a restraint. Its fine if you just want to build the odd modl. But if you want a nice colelction of a wide cariety, then the smaller scales are better.

For me, i'll stick to 72nd as my main scale.
