Shaun's Zwilling thread

As Im not starting this just yet I thought I would start to post my preparation for the build here.

As has been said elsewhere I am going to be doing a 1/32 HE111Z Zwilling which was converted from 2 HE111H-10's to tow the Gigant glider.

Before anyone asks 'No Im not even thinking of doing a 1/32 Gigant'. I had to have my arm twisted to do this project. It was a combination of things that made me want to do this. The first was not paying full price for a second Revell 1/32 HE111P-1 so when Model zone was knocking them out for £24 I bought a second.

Then there was the actual conversion. I needed to convert it into a H from the P which was going to be done by use of no less than 3 sets of the CMK conversions. This was mainly the engines but it had to be done.
The centre wing section was going to be the biggest hurdle with the '5th' engine. But again I was able to sort that out with some planning and filler.

Here is were the second piece of luck came into play. I was doing some research and I found a US company that specialized in 1/6 tanks. What this has to do with the zwilling you may well ask. Well they do only 2 aircraft conversions and one of which is a 1/32 HE111Z zwilling.

It wasnt cheap but considering the amount of resin involved I thought it would be worth it as the CMK H conversions would have set me back £50.

So with 2 Revell HE111P-1's in the stash and a zwilling conversion on its way from Field of armour It was on.

Just in case there are some doubters (I was one of them  ) here is the 2 HE111P-1 kits.

Just for comparison here is my Uncles 1/32 Battle of britain B-25 Camera ship with the 110cm (43" in old money) tape measure in front of it. This will sit quite happily on top of my model cabinet with only about a 5" overhang.

As soon as I get more bits for it like the conversion etc and info I will post it here. But as soon as I start to build the thing I will move this to the work in progress section.

At least you'll get to use an industrial sized automotive paint sprayer instead of a boring little airbrush this time!

Perhaps placing it in the garden and then going upstairs to take a photo leaning
out of the bedroom window!

I built the Italeri He111Z a few years ago, and I thought that was big!
This will be a beast, and like many others I shall be watching with interest . . .:pop

Im looking forward to doing this build but don't forget Im not starting it until I have finished my SU-25. Its bad enough having the thought of the two HE111's on the bench without a frogfoot as well.

Ive still got a fair bit of research on it to do as well so please bear (grrrrr) with me.

I will post my research I find on here so if anyone else needs/wants mental help and decides to do one then we can put Y fronts on our heads and put pencils up our nose.
Then go to hartlepool to buy some exploding trousers.

Wible!!!!

Shitlington Crags . . .
Hartlepool for mayoral monkeys and Mandy, surely? . . .
