Unlike a lot of you guys, I don't get to see a lot of interesting stuff flying over my house. Some civil stuff, a rare glimpse of a Chinook.

But I was doing the washing up earlier, the wife told me to, and I heard something different.

So, I looked through the kitchen window and there was a Dakota flying past! What's more it was painted in WW2 colours! :cool

Last night at around 21.30 we saw what we thought was a Chinese lantern floating along because it was all orange and flickering. It was quite slow and quite normal until it turned right and disappeared into a smallish cloud but then something strange happened because it came out of the cloud and shot off at a fastish pace towards the North West. There was no sound at all, engines or rotors and we get a lot of choppers around here. Now we have no idea what it was but Chinese lanterns drift with the wind, don't make sharp turns and increase speed.

Nothing to do with the demon drink as we had had none and through binoculars it did look lanternish.

I was working on my F-4EJ and heard an unfamiliar drone outside. At first I thought it was one of the ANG C-130's, ran outside and saw a flight of three V-22's.

Back in the late 80's I used to see the F-117's regularly at dusk(they were based about 200 miles south of here). I didn't know what they were at the time and the flew pretty high but there was no mistaking that silhouette.

You've reminded me that, I think it was two nights ago, I saw a white light that flew across the sky in an arc and dissapeared.

Usually I would say it was a shooting star, but this thing was much brighter.

So it was the light off an aircraft? No, because there was a definate arc to it's flight and it was travelling damned fast.

A brighter than normal shooting star it is then.
