Mark has already reviewed this kit and now it is my job to build it. On opening the end of the box, I find 69 well moulded and sturdy parts. As this is a Mobeus (some one please tell me how to spell that!) repop, it is what we have come to expect from them.

Construction is fairly simple and it appears you can build it in a modular form and fit all the bits together at the last moment, which is the approach I will be taking.

I will put some photos up tomorrow, when i have access to a faster computer.

It's a very nice kit, lights up lovely!!

The modular build is good, the only fiddly bit is masking the rear clear part for the main engines.

Cheers,

Warren

The build starts with the fitting of the recesses for the flight pods to the upper hull. Then the lower hull is fitted.

Now we have a hull.....

....however.....

There are nasty gaps along the join for the recesses. I'm not sure if they will be visible once the flight pods (hangars) are on, but I don't want to take any chances, so out with the filler.

Next up is the upper engines. No drama here as they are upper and lower halves.
The instructions do warn you that there are some injection pins still on the kit which need removing as you go, so trial fitting is essential.

Then onto the lower engines

The forward hull is next. Another problem here, this time with the instructions. I built everything as per so far, but when I assembled the front part and came to fit it to the main hull.....this...

There is a tab which is designed to be locked between the 2 halves of the main hull. No mention is given to this in the Revell version of the instructions. It's no big deal tho, as a swift application of the razor saw and off it comes..

The last thing I did last night was fit the arms to the flight pods. The kit is designed to have them extended, but should you wish to show it in FTL mode, I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to modify the arms.

And here's all the bit so far

Paul,

The gap is quite evident once built, look at the last picture of my thread with the lights on this kit.

The other thing to watch out for is the flight pods, the space for the name decal wants to be at the front not like I did at the back!

Cheers,

Warren

Glad I filled it then.

Yes, I am watching the direction of the flight pods....

I get the feeling I'll have to paint them before I fit the lower halves one as there needs to be decals inside. Is that right?

I built mine completely before painting and applied the deck decals too.

I just put some kitchen roll in each opening to prevent paint and varnish getting in.

Cheers,

Warren

I've not forgotten about this. It sits on my shelf, awaiting the right blend of paint colour. I have tried one and it turned out too dark.
