Spent all day Sunday at Silverstone for the 50th Anniversary 911 parade with 1207 other 911s with my son and this is his car, it's a 1987 Super Sport with the 3.6 litre motor.

As well as the parade which was for Porsche GB club members there was umpteen other 911s in the parking area, A truly amazing day and the sight of all these 911s was something to behold.

There is a very boring 24 minute video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gf-nfI_2V0 and we are in third row from camera at the 1.30 region, box above the screen is me holding a video cam.

We also had a small display from two Spits but this took place while we were on the track.

We were very lucky with the weather except when we got back to the M25 when the heavens opened and we had to stop and get the power hood up. I have had the pleasure of driving my son's car, it is an experience I wouldn't have missed.

A bit of history of it, 1987 911 Super Sport which Ian and his boss stripped down to the chassis and completely rebuilt from the bottom up and fitted the 3.6 ltr motor instead of stock 3.2 ltr. It is one of 23 imported to the UK during the 80s Yuppie era when they wanted a Turbo look alike without the Turbo so wide body, enormous wheels and tyres. Oh and it goes like hell, we topped 170 on a French road during the Le Mans Vintage in 2010.

Looks like a great turn out, have to admit Silverstone is a great venue for these sort of days.

Cheers,

Warren
