Ted Taylor, one of the most skilled modeller I have had the pleasure to meet, passed away last night. Ted can be remembered for all his review builds in a couple of mags but to me his lorry builds were unsurpassed, R.I.P. Ted you will be missed.

If you aren't sure just who Ted is have a look at his web site here, http://tedtaylor.hobbyvista.com/

I didn't get any of Ted's canopy polish, but I still have plenty of the steel shot that I bought off him for nose weights.

A couple of years ago I had planned a trip to one of the Yeovilton shows and a couple of days beforehand got a phone call from my oppo Sean. Could we take another passenger? No problem. It was Ted, who was in the early days of his illness, fit enough to go out, but not allowed to drive. We had a great time and Ted could talk the hind legs off a donkey with so many tales of modelling, getting bombed during the blitz and the family haulage business which is where his passion for truck models was derived. Ted had held an HGV and travelled all over Europe and the Middle East. He'd been a consultant for Matchbox and they would send him the test shots so that he could work out the construction sequence. Ted loved to demonstrate airbrushing and I know several folks who benefited from his weekend workshops at Hannant's Colindale. He could often be found doing demos at model shows and in later years Revell sent him airbrushes and compressors to work with.

Check out the link posted above, Ted's Modelworks Page will only stay up for as long as the hosting is paid for and there is a wealth of information and tips to be found there.

RIP Ted, thanks for such an enjoyable day out mate, we'll miss you.
