This is another kit that i'm working on at the moment. No where near as pleasing as the Mustang but it's one that's been in the stash for a while and I've wanted to build it.

Nice!
Is it a new tool?
I know its probably sacrilegious, but I like the spits in US markings!

I'll get my coat... :whistle

No unfortunately it's not new tool. Compared to the Mustang i'm also doing it looks really dated but it'll probably be alright.

Reet, the main build part is done. I have to say, considering people on different forums have offered praise for this kit, I think the fit is quite poor IMO. The wing/fuselage fit is shocking with a good 2/3mm gap. It's nothing that can't be easily sorted with plenty of filler, which is todays job.

Well getting this kit ready for painting took a lot longer than I thought it would. Firstly some of you may have spotted that I mounted the cockpit in the wrong place, i.e on top of the mount and not underneath, so i had to rip the kit open and effectively start again. After a lot of filling and sanding, and then filling and sanding again with a mix of Humbrol Model Filler and Mr Surfacer, finally I was happy with it.

It's currently outside drying having been sprayed with some primer out of a rattle can.

Those are some decent gaps, will the one under the wing pinch together with a bit of tape?

It was lined up with the wing root so to pinch it together would have put it out of line. It's ok now after a good squeeze of filler into the gap.

Well I opted to work on this today rather than me struggle away with the airbrush on the Eagle. It's all brush painted bar the yellow bands since I really didn't fancy tackling yellow with the hairy stick. I've got a bit of polishing to do on the canopy and a bit of over spray on the cannons. I'll have this finished tomorrow.

You've got it looking nice. I built this one the other week, there were some issues with the fit on mine as well.

A touch more make-up and the old girl will look great.

I've done the touch ups and just gave it a good coating with the new Humbrol Gloss Coat stuff. After i've done the decals I plan to use the Humbrol Matt coat stuff but it is a lot thicker than the Gloss. I'm assuming you just thin it down with the usual thinner and put it through the airbrush like normal?
