Otto has ducked down inside

i started to give it a oil filter.........burnt umber, raw umber and i decided to add a bit of viridian just to see what happened,.....the viridian was too much, it just bled everywhere as soon as the thinners touched it, ended up giving the whole thing a wash down with thinners to get rid of it all,..........did it all again with burnt umber, raw umber and ochre. still not happy with it, whats everyone else think?

next step is to let it all dry off for a few days then a dark wash

at least its not shiny any more lol

i think its just too bright and needs dulling down, if that makes sense

a coat of matt with a small amount of grey in may do it

its the flash thats making it shine, in natural light it is quite dull

once the oils are well and truely dry it will get a coat of matt varnish to seal, then some kleer ready for the dark wash and some streaking and then another matt coat to seal it all so all that should dull it even more

tools and stuff added, did a dark wash to the nooks and crannies, another matt coat to seal, next is more weathering.....want to try some dirty streaks and add some dirt to the lower sides

im calling this one done for a few reasons

i tried adding some dirty streaks using one of those Tamiya weathering packs (never been impressed with them to be honest).........didnt like the look so removed the streaks with some isopronanol, ......got rid of the streaks and left a white residue!.......washed that off with water but theres still a bit left that will just not come off

i wanted to add some dust round the bottom half but i just dont want to risk ruining it any more

must be one of my longest wip's ever......nearly 4 months, but i have had a house move in the middle of it lol......so just glad to get it off the bench

more pics in the finished thread
