My next build will be a special one, this will be a tribute to all of bomber command and especially 617 sqn

AJ*J was piloted by Flt Lt Maltby
Crew

Nav - Vivian Nicholson
Bomb Aimer - John Fort
Flt Eng - William Hatton
Wireless - Anthony Stone
Front Gunner - Victor Hill
Rear Gunner - Harrold Simmonds

as i understand it and please correct me if im wrong, AJ*J attacked the Mohne Dam dropping the 3rd Upkeep mine and causing a breech in the dam.

This will be built using the Tamiya kit with, eduard interior etc, seatbelts, quickboost resin guns and weighted wheels and finished off with xtradecals 617 history decals

Mark, I think your weighted wheels are post war tyres. I'm led to believe wartime Lancs had smooth tyres. I was going to get that set, but luckily for me my kit contains smooth weighted wheels. :whistle

Block tread pattern was introduced towards the end of the war years, but I've only ever seen pictures of Dambusters with the smooth tyres. Scampton was a grass field and the treaded patterns were introduced as more units were operating from tarmac runways.

Nice start Mark.

Always liked the look of this kit, built it once many, many moons ago and would happily do it again.

Just be careful though, I think I see your friendly carpet monster about to strike in the top left of the first photo, happy looking little chap!

Could be mistaken though, it may be your returning mojo!!

Cheers,

Warren
