Back to the bench now Im fit again !

Part of stage 5 completed and stage 6.
The parts fit together very well to make up the gantry structure at the top of the Tower.

Airbrushed Vallejo Model Air White onto the boosters and then using the recommended paint mixes on the painting guide I completed the main Fuel tank.

While I had the brush loaded with white I gave the shuttle a few light coats ......and then put my "orange " finger marks on it :slap:

Out with the airbrush again tomorrow .

You could have blamed that on Aliens, surely.
Adding this to the growing list of projects that I wouldn't have the nerve to tackle!

Lots more done now I have been sent the missing sprue ....cheers for that Steve (Jacksdad64) :thumb:

More sub assemblies completed and a quick coat of primer Grey on.....

Posted Image

While the glue /paint dried on those I finished decalling the Solid Rocket boosters and Launch Pad .....

Posted Image

..... and then later today I gave the boosters a final Satin varnish and the Main Fuel Tank a Matt finish.
All done :D

Posted Image

Ive added magnets to the bottom of the boosters to avoid them falling over when on the Pad.

Posted Image

I now turned to the Shuttle......
I resprayed with Vallejo Game Color White Primer to remove those pesky Orange finger prints and this time I made sure I Gloss coated it for protection ....lesson learned !
Lower surfaces painted Revell Aqua 77 Dust grey

Posted Image

Wing leading edges Aqua 79 and the Black areas with Vallejo Color Matt Black.....just got the edge of the fin and rudder to do to complete the painting .

Might get some more done tomorrow

I liked it with a touch of orange, gave it character.

This is something I would never attempt, I have a rule...never make a model that is taller than me, and I'm a gnome.

Ive started the decals and they are superb !!
Revells decals have been great since they started using Cartograf but these are better still
I thought I would have big problems putting the black trim with black tile decal (42) on the side bulges that are quite a complex curve but they settled down with just one application of MicroSol :thumb:
A tip for budding shuttle builders........adding thin black stripe decal for the cargo bay door outline makes a big difference to the overall look . Strangely enough the photo of the completed shuttle on the kit box side has this added even though its not included on the decal sheet .....I used some from the Xtradecal Black stripe sheet.

Not many more to go on .....she will be Endeavour which is in line with my named vessels of Captain James Cook theme ( he was born down the road in Marton-in-Cleveland  )
I did Discovery earlier this year.

Thanks lads....the camera does lie though ....plenty of touch ups and overpaints to do.
Its amazing the difference the thin black decal for the cargo bay makes to its appearance.
