Started in 2012, I had an idea to represent three aircraft of WTD-61 at Manching, Germany, that featured the colour ORANGE! First up to be built was Tornado IDS 45+03, painted in 2007 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of WTD-61 in Test Flying - Canberra B2 99+34 followed. The Canberra had an interesting life and features camouflaged wings sold to the Germans by the RAF. They were fitted to the fuselage and the re-winged jet was pressed into service without ceremony and before they could be painted. The RAF roundels were painted grey and the cross applied to the left side only. The underside of the wings retained their yellow and black target tug stripes, making an unusual and colourful machine! Phantom F-4F 37+16 was also painted up in 2007 to go alongside the Tornado at Manching. I started the model in 2012 and have finally finished it - can't rush these things apparently

Glad I read the title of the thread first and donned the old sunglasses. Not models to look at with a hangover.... Seriously mate, they really are a splendid looking trio.

Sorry Nigel I cannot see the piccie but I do remember the Orange Canberra as a regular visitor into Southend/Rochford many years ago. Just seen these over on the Tonka site, wonderful trio and that Canberra is so, so different. Edited by Olde Farte, Oct 14 2014, 08:46 AM.
