Airfix 1:48 Gloster Javelin FAW9/9R (A12007) No.33 Squadron, RAF Middleton St George, County Durham, England, 1962. My attempt at this great kit, I cannot remember a single part that did not fit exactly where and how it was supposed to. I encountered some small issues with a few of the decals, but nothing insurmountable. Brush painted with Humbrol enamels and the only thing I added were some ejection seat belts made from coloured Tamiya tape. I cannot recommend this kit strongly enough and looking forward to getting another in the New Year. Must pull a Sea Vixen out soon to go alongside it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I know the flaps and airbrake deployment is most likely inaccurate, but I was enjoying building it so much I decided to have everything deployed. |

Deploy them baby!!! It looks blinding with all the breaks etc out. Sometimes I like to use artistic licence or what I call the 'bollocks to what others think' reasoning and go with what looks good to me on a build. And this looks gooood

A superb build and finish, your brush work is excellent. I must compare your technique with mine so what's your secret John. Who needs an airbrush when hairy sticks work like this. Edited by Olde Farte, Nov 13 2014, 03:58 PM.

I suppose the only change I've made since starting making models again is that I normally thin the paint before applying to any sizeable area. Several thin coats applied and the correct type of thinned varnish applied when I'm finished. Thanks for the comments all. |

About the same then, try thinning with lacquer thinners instead of White Spirit or turps. Dries in about half the time and I only use Model Master Lacquer thinners. |

With an airbrush, I'd be happy to achieve a finish anywhere close to that. Excellent. I think that there's a good argument for dropping flaps, e.t.c on a model, even if not absolutely true to the real thing. It's your model and it sounds like you enjoyed building it - that's what matters!
