The Avro in Airfix.

I'd first discounted the rumour years back that Airfix were intent on producing the fullest range of Spitfires achievable - not least when at the time I first heard the rumour, they'd only produced about six new tools in the preceding ten years. We must be at least half-way through their Spitfire project now and I've developed the opinion they'll be working through the whole Lancaster family now.

The new-mould Lancasters were not only a surprise anyway, but the addition of the Mk.II from beginning and an obvious tooling method to get as much from the moulds as possible was apparent from the very start. Looking at the Lanc. moulds I've no doubt they've got an intention to cover the Manchester at some point and assuming there's enough similarity between the wings of the Shackleton and Lincoln then that would point to the logical culmination of the project. I wouldn't doubt even a York and a Lancastrian will eventually find their way to us from the same route.

It was interesting in particular over the past couple of years looking on other modelling sites when the rumour of the Shackleton was mentioned that some writers immediately descended into a tizz of toys-from-the-cot bitterness at any such contributor. I'd say to speculate over a Manchester, Lincoln or York now is less guesswork and more informed commentary. If all that's correct, I wonder if, looking back over their four-engine Avro family, they'll want to top if off with a new Vulcan?

Now I would definitely go for a new tool Vulcan but the world is slowly being crushed by Spitfires with more out there than actually fought in all the wars it saw service in.

IMHO says the Grumpy old fart.

Whereas I do love Spitfires (can you tell?), I would be more than happy to see a new tool Vulcan and plenty more cold war jets (RAF of course).

I've not seen the new tool Lanc, but I am looking forward to the Shack, as the addition of an AEW radome will look good. (Oh yes, I have one of those!)

It certainly would be nice to see some of the "lesser" aircraft made in plastic, and having seen in recent years the TSR2 and now the Swift, it certainly looks like things are heading that way, so a Manc and a Linc could well be on the cards....

When I look at my 48th Javelin and think of how big a 48th Vulcan would be I have to stick to 72nd as I have no room and SWMBO would have a fit.

....and apparently there's a pic in the 2015 Revell Catalogue of a Shackleton AEW 2 promised in 1:72 - indicated as 'New'.....
