Airfix 1:72 Avro Lancaster B.1. (F.E.) (A08013) Tiger Force, No 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force Graveley, Cambridgeshire, England, 1945 Did you ever build a kit where you blow things out of proportion that results in anxiety, well that’s what happened here, I’m not going into chapter and verse or it will sound like a feeble excuse as to why it has taken so long to finish . Enough to say that the kit itself is a very good one. In fact I only encountered two problems, one with the kit, the other with the instructions. The kit issue was that on mine the bomb bay doors were warped. Looking at other builds of the kit I presume this was an issue only with my kit so if you make it hopefully you will not encounter this problem. As a consequence I built it with bomb doors shut as I couldn’t get the doors to adhere to the small hinge fixtures. It would appear that these planes were fitted with an auxiliary fuel tank in the bomb bay and as this is not supplied with the kit having a closed bay side stepped this omission. The second relates to the instructions, you are told to put the fuselage windows in but the instructions make no mention that this version did not have them. It seems ironic that people have been wanting a Lanc with windows that when Airfix produce one they issue it in a version that doesn’t have them. Normally airbrush white but my airbrush went kaput, therefore brushed with enamels, my final build of 2014. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A very good kit, which baring the issue I mentioned earlier, I can thoroughly recommend. |

Looks very nice, I like the interest added by the lowered flaps.
