![]() 1859 succeeded to Colonel Drake in Pennsylvania/USA the first successful drilling for oil in 21 m soil depth. Only 70 years later one dared the step from the country in the water. 1927 were made in California the first offshore drilling (offshore one = before the coast) in depth of water by only 6 m. The oil politics of the OPEC countries made the oil search ever more interesting and - for production water. World-wide today about 380 oil-well drilling installations are in the offshore range in enterprise. Beside north and in the North Sea a second emphasis range developed for Central American coasts. In the year 1975 first production could be taken up in the Forties field. The underbody of the North Cormorant was dragged at the beginning of of 1980 to its place of destination, 160 km northeast the Shetland islands. After it was embodied in the bottom of the sea with 32 enormous steel nails there, it had the record distance of 1.400 km sea voyage of threw in French Cherbourg put back. The entire promotion platform was installed in the time from May to August 1981 and took up in December its enterprise. The promoted oil and gas are passed on in pipelines to the mainland. The Plattform deck has a total area of 4.000 m ˛. The gigantic underbody exceeds all with a height of 170 m and a weight of 24.500 tons its predecessors in the history of the North Sea oil. During the construction period the North Cormorant 240 men accommodated. Today provide over 100 sailors in wind and weather their service. ![]() This kit was originally released in 1986 and is an unusual subject to be modelled, however this really does build up into an impressive model. there is ample opportunity to made this into a stunning diorama, with the use of a sea base and a lighting kit, if you google this kits images you will see what i mean. Google Link The Kit ![]() this builds in to a massive model measuring 68.5cm x 27.5cm square with a heights of 50.4cm the box is crammed full of coloured plastic, which i normally done like, however, building this model unpainted, is a real option for this kit ![]() The isntructions these are or Revell normal style and are in Revell paints, which some require mixing, however if you are going to paint this i would get some rattle cans ![]() ![]() The Decals these are of very good standard and are crisp and clear ![]() The plastic Where do i start, there is extensive sprues of vividly coloured plastic, all is crisp and very rigid, which will be a good thing for this ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In Conclusion this is a fantastic kit of a obscure subject, the build process allows you to build each part in module form and then assemble together at the end. the painting of this will be a nightmare but is well worth doing, looking at several competed builds on the net, some have been painted others not, however 1 in particular has been lit and is simply stunning, as centerpiece to any collection my Recommendation - this is not for a beginner and wont be a quick project to build, however is modular construction will make this a viable build for the average modeller Revell model kits are available from all good toy and model retailers.
