The ZIL-131 is a general purpose 3.5 tons 6x6 army truck designed in the Soviet Union by ZIL. The basic model being a general cargo truck. Variants include a tractor-trailer truck, a dump truck, a fuel truck, and a 6x6 for towing a 4-wheeled powered trailer. The ZIL-131 also serves as a platform for the 9P138 rocket launcher, a 30-tube variant of the BM-21 "Grad".

The ZIL-131 has a civilian version, the ZIL-130, both were introduced in 1967 as a family of two trucks sharing identical components.

The ZIL-131 6x6 has the same equipment as the GAZ-66 and Ural-375D.

The ZIL-130/131 was in production at the "AMUR" truck plant (as the AMUR 531340), with both gasoline and diesel engines, until 2012 when Anur shut down and filed for bankruptcy.

The Kit

229 parts, which once put together, build up to a nice 1/35 scale model.
All eight tyres are rubber.
You have a choice of four schemes to finish it in, two East German, one Soviet based in Afghanistan 1980 and one Russian Army circa 2000.

The Instuctions Booklet

Your standard Revell paper instruction sheet awaits you. Looks busy as always, but very methodical in it`s approach.

The Sprues

Very impressive sprues with no flash that I could find..., (.. and I looked very hard.. :cool ).

This is my first review of a model vehicle and I was very impressed that it appears that you construct this kit from the wheels up so to speak.

I don`t doubt that you would get immense satisfaction from this kit once it`s built.

The Decals

The decals very well made and are the usual high standard you would expect from Revell.

In Conclusion

This kit is very well made and presented and would build up into an excellent rendition of this Warsaw Pact workhorse.

If you like your trucks, this military version would be ideal for either that `hole` in your collection or a great piece to include in a diorama with either troops pouring out the rear end or perhaps retro fitting it with that 30-tube rocket launcher.

Nice one. :cool

I think it would look great rusted out and covered in a layer of dust. Might give it a go sometime.
