This is the reboxing of the SMER kit which I was not too impressed with initially but as roses on Norman Vaughn it’s grown on me. A bit of a filler queen with butt joins in some places and I’m unqualified as to it’s accuracy but I’ve ended up with a model which looks like a MiG17 in my eyes and that’s ok with me.

The instructions do not give any details as to unit or time period other than it’s Vietnamese. The paint scheme is more my interpretation of the instructions and certainly tested my hairy stick skills.

Not had tail sitting aircraft for may a year but this is the second one in a row that has flatly refused to stay on it’s undercarriage, hence my first attempt at a base to stick (literally) it on.

Would I recommend it? actually yes, I quite like the finished product.

I think I did this kit years ago. I seem to remember it being a nice enough kit, but as you say, butt jointed wings etc. Think I had to fill the front end with lead to get it to sit right.

Looks great tho!

Outstanding build and an amazing hairy stick finish, makes one want to throw away their health threatening sprays (oh I haven't got one have I).
