Revell 1/32 Focke Wulf FW190 F-8 Schlachter ![]() ![]() After the Bf 109 the Fw 190 was the second standard fighter in the German Luftwaffe. The aircraft proved to be both versatile and very robust. The Fw190 F-8 heavy fighter-bomber was produced in large numbers from the beginning of 1944 onwards. The F series was developed in 1943 specifically for the ground attack role. A 700 kg (1500 lb) bomb load could be carried on five external attachment points. The fuselage armour plating and the wing spars in the area of the main landing gear were strengthened, otherwise the F-8 corresponded to A-8 fighter version. After mass production had started a new wooden bladed propeller and a bubble-shaped canopy with reinforced head armour-protection were also installed on the F-8. From the beginning of 1944 until the end of the war more than 6,500 Fw190 A-8 and F-8 versions had been delivered. The Kit ![]() ![]() ![]() Err WOW!! Sorry i had a moment then but this is the best looking kit ive seen in a long long time. This is a complete new tool and is date stamped 2015. The kit comes with lots of options form open engine bays, open and closed canopies of 2 styles and raised and lowered landing gear. Another interesting feature is the inclusion of a stand to pose this in flight (adding the possibility with some work of a motorised model). The instructions show unused parts for this build adding to the speculation that this kit will closely be followed by another of a different variant. The kit gives markings for 2 aircraft, but there are already a wealth of 1/32 markings out there for the Hassegawa version, and i don’t see much trouble fitting them to this kit. Whilst i mention the hassegawa version from the sprue shots alone this kit beats it hands down and at a fraction of the price! The kit includes: New mouldings - Finely detailed surfaces with recessed panel joints - A choice of open engine cowling, MG hatch or extended flaps - Super detailed BMW 801 radial engine with exhaust manifold - Moving rudder and ailerons - Rotating propeller - A choice of normal or curved cockpit canopy - Detailed cockpit with side consoles and rudder pedals - Detailed instrument panel - Tail wheel can be mounted in either the retracted or extended position - Detailed under-carriage - A SC 500 or a SC250 bomb under the fuselage - Four SC 50 bombs under the wings - Two fully detailed MG 131 machine guns - Large display stand with multiple flight positions ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The instructions.... These are the normal Revell booklet style with 15 pages covering the 80 steps of the build, the Paints are in Revell callouts only and some require mixing. The instructions appear clear and simple to follow ![]() ![]() The decals These are very clean and crisp and in perfect register with minimal excess on each decal. However to comply with Germany law no swastika’s are included. These are easily sourced from else where. Markings are for: - Fw 190 F-8/R1, black 6 , St.SG.10, Czech Territory, 1945 - Fw 190 F-8, black 2 , St.SG.10, Czech Territory, 1945 ![]() The Plastic... The box is crammed full of plastic. I believe one of their bigger top opening boxes would of been much better for this kit. The plastic its self is very crisp and free from flash (as it should be in a 2015 kit) the detail is nicely raised and recessed where appropriate and to scale. As previously mentioned there are many options with this kit, but one nice feature is the inclusion of 4 canopies, yes i did say 4. 2 flat top, 1 for open and 1 for closed, the same goes for the 2 bubble top canopies. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In Conclusion This is a very very welcome release of a kit, some have said they would of prefereed a ‘A’ model to be release first but in reality who cares this is a fantastic looking kit and one that i will look forward to in the coming months. This kit is not one for the beginner but not that complex either so anyone with moderate skills could turn this in to a fantastic model.
