I thought this may interest you. My location is just North of the Thames by Canvey Island and I have an amateur weather station and yesterday at 16.00 it was 30c, today as we speak it is already 31c. Of course the further ooop 't Norf you go it will be cooler, lucky sods. |

These temperatures remind me of when I arrived in Gibraltar for my posting. It was 33C the day I stepped off the aircraft (February) and the following day was the first day of tropical uniform wear. In the UK, stores didn't want to bother and said I could be issued my tropical gear from clothing stores at Gib, so when everyone else was swanning around in cooler clothing, I was the idiot in heavyweight winter blue uniform for a couple of days. Strangely, once properly acclimatised, we only regarded the weather as getting a tad warm when it went over 25C. After two years, my body thermometer was absolutely haywire and returned to normal after about ten years. I could be the one in the T-shirt when it was snowing and wearing a woolly jumper on hot summer days in the UK - go figure! |

We live in a fairly military area (Aldershot near by). I always thought we just had a large amount of wierdos but I guess this explanation might for some of them.

I'm not sure of how much could be blamed on the weather, but it must have improved a little since the Parachute Regiment moved out! |

Can I see a fight developing? Regretfully I never served but do have memories of my old serge bus uniform. PS. Now showing 32c. |

Yep, it really is a scorcher outside. Shame about this damn air conditioning gently blowing a cool breeze and keeping me comfortable.

At 08.00 it was showing 27c, at 09.20 it was 31c. It also shows rain etc. and at the moment we have a 19% chance of rain outdoors but indoors it is up to 45% chance of rain. |

My brother in Western Oz thinks we are a load of wimps over here, his reaction to the 'advice' from our nanny state government was hilarious. |
