I make no apology for the poor quality of the photograph shown - it's a huge crop from a 300mm lens.

This afternoon at around 3.30pm, Sea King Mk.5 XV661 (26) of 771 NAS was flying up and down the East Kent coastline at around 1500 to 2000 feet.

It's exceptionally rare for any Sea King to be seen off Ramsgate in the past few years, but one from the Royal Navy is almost unbelievable!

The aircraft made 2 x North to South passes and 2 x South to North before departing to the North. The flying profile didn't fit any search pattern I'm familiar with and I've never seen a SAR helicopter that high while searching. The side cabin door was only open about a foot.

Any ideas welcomed!
