I make no apology for the poor quality of the photograph shown - it's a huge crop from a 300mm lens. This afternoon at around 3.30pm, Sea King Mk.5 XV661 (26) of 771 NAS was flying up and down the East Kent coastline at around 1500 to 2000 feet. ![]() It's exceptionally rare for any Sea King to be seen off Ramsgate in the past few years, but one from the Royal Navy is almost unbelievable! The aircraft made 2 x North to South passes and 2 x South to North before departing to the North. The flying profile didn't fit any search pattern I'm familiar with and I've never seen a SAR helicopter that high while searching. The side cabin door was only open about a foot. Any ideas welcomed! |
