Short notice, but tonight at 10pm on UK TV - BBC2 - Rhod Gilbert is featured in a programme filmed at RAF Valley. BBC LINK From the clips on the link, I understand why he's wearing a gro-bag, but can't understand the pilot wings unless he was an RAF pilot in a previous career. Admittedly I don't know anything about the chap. |

Having now seen the programme, I found it interesting as it concentrated on the process of being assessed and prepared for the air experience flight he was there for, rather than purely being a vehicle to showcase his comedy talent. |

Oh come on guys, what's a 'grobag' in relation to flying, not something we used when driving buses. Steve there is this but not sure if it will work for you. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04kpdqf/rhod-gilberts-work-experience-series-5-4-raf-fighter-pilot |

Classically, the Gro-bag (or Growbag) is a full length garment with a full torso zip worn by aircrew. Occasionally it may be referred to as a "Flying Suit" or "Flying Coveralls" Once fitted, it's almost impossible to remove from the occupant without serious anaesthetic or pain-killers, especially when the occupant is not engaged on flying related activities. A non-flying suit version of the Gro-bag is often sold in Garden Centres. This is a large bag (the equivalent of a Flying Suit) which is cut down the middle (the equivalent of a zip) and contains organic material consistent with the promotion of plants (it's full of (insert own word here)). Some people regard the similarities between the Flying Suit and the Gro-bag to be co-incidental. Some do not. Hope that helps, Del. |

An absolutely perfect explanation Nigel, wet myself (nearly) laughing at part 2 though.
