thanks Simon ok more progress on the conning tower, this is where you need 5 hands and tiny fingers, care has to be taken removing the rails from the sprues as they are easily broken ![]()

thanks Del well last night i started the conning turret 'fencing' and after an hour i had to walk away as it would not go together at all, this moring 2mins and it all fit like a dream this is made of 3 pieces that inter lock ![]() then the frame work sits in the holes, i found it easier to use the buccaneer approach, put in 1 or 2 legs then walk away, then glue 2 more and so on and so on ![]() i have sub fencing!!!!!! only got to do the whole main deck now! |

In scale terms, the railings might be a bit on the thick side, but there's probably a limit manufacturers can go to without making something so delicate that it would be almost impossible to cut an item that size off sprues without breaking it. The Lynx helicopter I recently built has exhaust cans that if scaled up to reality, would give a wall thickness of about 4.5cm! |

your right they are a bit thick for scale, however there is no way on earth even with etch you could get them to scale, and trust me they are a night mare even at this thickness |

Go for the weathering, you cannot muck it up as think about 3 or 4 months in the Atlantic, it would be DIRTY. |
