A box review of this model appears in the Revell review section of MMM.

This particular build will feature this kit;

I'm well outside my "comfort zone" with this one as I've never built a car kit before!

More soon.

Nigel

That's not a car Nigel, it's a ROCKET and can be made to go vertical. Much like a Lynx so you should be OK.

Making a start on the kit, the engine was the first item to be tackled. I'm intending to build this as per the instructions, which is quite a change from my normal haphazard method of jumping around the instruction sheets. The only thing that might differ from the intended Revell build is the colour of some parts, but I'll try to stay on track.

The basic engine block shown here is made from seven parts

Engine manifolds added

The engine block is fitted to the car base plate - it fits very well and is solid

The framing (in black) is made of an upper and lower section. The fit is excellent and trouble free.

That's the back end interior pretty much complete, with the wheel arches next to be fitted there. With my limited experience on this type of build, I'd certainly recommend that the individual parts are painted prior to fitting and assembly where possible, as there isn't much room to get a paint brush in when it's all together!

The kit doesn't have much flash on the sprues, but individual parts definitely benefit from some edge cleaning by gentle sanding.

Surprisingly (to me), this is quite an enjoyable build so far... :whistle

Nigel

The brake discs and turning wheel hubs were very easy to fit and foolproof in that you can't fit the front to the rear or vice-versa.

I've test fitted the wheels but will leave them off in case of stupidity as I'll be bound to spill paint or glue on them if I put them on at this point! :redface

The instructions then turn to the cabin. This was very straightforward to complete and as photographed, the doors are the only other items to complete and put into place.

The instructions have the cockpit tub fitted to the upper body shell rather than as seen here, but while I work on the doors and the body, it seems the best place to leave it for now.
It's a snug fit!

The body shell is the part I wasn't looking forward to as the paint finish has to be quite good on it, but that's next in line.

Although there isn't a lot of obvious flash on the parts, almost every single part has needed attention from a craft knife and fine sanding file to remove seam lines and to just smooth the edges.

Nigel

Excellent so far.

Re body paint, have you given cellulose/lacquer a thought as it is hard and takes rubbing compound and polish etc.
