This will be my first GB on MMM and I'm anxious to begin. Eduard are one of my favorite companies. This kit includes PS, PE, resin, and two sets of decals for making one of four jets. I am still undecided as to which markings I will select. But I have narrowed it down to either the No. 111 Squadron 1962, or the No. 56 Squadron 1963, Firebirds Aerobatics team. This should prove to be a challenging build for me. One of my weak areas in modelling is creating a seamless join without losing surface detail. This kit will also afford the opportunity to create a natural metal finish on most of the fuselage. Time to get started!

Some good progress over the weekend. Landing gear and nose cone attached. Next are the canopy, front landing gear panels, and weapons to finish things up.

I really enjoyed participating in the group build. I look forward to joining in on future builds as well. When I purchased this kit, I knew nothing about the BAC Lightning. One of the aspects I most enjoy about modelling is learning new things, especially things of an historical nature. The Lightning is simply beautiful.

As for the kit itself, there were a number of surprises and disappointments.
On the plus side; Eduard supplied two sets of decal sheets by Cartograf. The PE added many nice details, from the cockpit to the landing gear. As is usual, Eduard includes duplicates for many of the smallest PE parts. The masking set was excellent as well.
On the minus side; The text and locating points for a few of the decals was laughable. I don't know who is responsible, but it would appear little research, or proofreading was done. Also, the drawings for applying the decals did not match the actual kit. Differing panel locations or non-existent panels on the kit did not aid in placing the decals. The fuselage had some warp, resulting in the forward and aft ends separating from each other after cementing(this may have been poor technique on my part).

On the whole, the kit built into a very nice model of a classic jet aircraft.
