How did you bend them like that?

All done by hand very, very gently.

But bent propeller blades mean that the prop would still have been running during touchdown. If that was the case, shouldn't the blades all be bent in the same direction?
That I can`t answer, I replicated a picture I saw of a Corsair that had crash landed so some strange force of physics must of been at play to make it look that way.
Perhaps the heavy 'nose down' position meant that the prop ceased to rotate whilst there was still forward motion thereby bending the prop as the heavy engine pushed the 2 lowest blades in to the ground?

Thanks Jonesy.

The following pictures show the first stages of rendering a `crumpled` and banged up look to the aircraft.

A base coat has also been applied.

..... and so the next step towards making this look like a convincing abandoned wreck is to make it look a little new.

I sprayed some USN blue onto the model in a very hap hazard way, there was no need to be careful with it and then placed some highly visible markings onto it.

Next step is to lightly, in a rather random way, spray aluminium paint onto the model so that the blue and marking are given a very `faded` look.

But first the wheels, flaps, canopy and other random bits that need doing.

Thanks chaps.

A little bit of battle damage work done and a also put a `dent` in the external tank.

Quite obvious that involved foil and PE scraps.........

.... but with a lick of paint I think it`s come out reasonable and it will be the final weathering that makes it look a little more realistic.

Builder of aircraft, any scale from 1:1 to 1:144!
Liking the weathering so far! That prop is very nicely done.

But... can I make a suggestion? Deflect the control surfaces a bit? The odds of the rudder, elevators and ailerons all being perfectly aligned on a long abandoned wreck are very small indeed after all...

An interesting learning curve in weathering and model wreck making techniques with some parts looking reasonably good and other bits not so.

All good fun though.
