Niiice! I have one of these (Vikings) in the Gallery and it's a nice build. You will need to replace the Engine Cooling System at the rear top with the modern type, these are available from Quickboost No. 48462 and are a must if not in the kit, they weren't in mine. The box top shows the correct ones. Also take note that the front Slime lights have the black at the Bottom and not the top as per the rear ones. The fin ones have the Black to the front, so many models have this wrong. |

Great choice. I really do need to push on with my F/A18F, but the mojo is still seriously lacking. Maybe following this will help kick start it. #Del - Nice info on the slime lights. |

Cheers guys Del, I have had a look at your build, she looks great mate, especially next to the Goshawk. I am just going to use the kit parts TBH mate, I am currently mid-house purchase so all my "spare" cash is taken up with that, so much so I have not bought anything model related for over 2 months BTW what are Slime Lights? I have googled it and got nothing.Paddy, your Hornet was going great guns mate, then that pesky Rifleman got in the way

Thanks for your comment re mine in the gallery. Truly though if you do nothing else you should change the ECS intakes as mentioned previously. Slime lights are the yellow and black strips that are on the nose, fin, rear fuselage and top and bottom of the wingtip sensors Black forward on these. They are electronic/reflector recognition lights and can be seen on most military aircraft even transports and now Russia is using them. Some are just yellowy green, others have the black strip which is infrared and the Israelis have the F-15I Ra'am with just the black ones. |

Hi all, Some progress to report, though not many pictures. The Growler/Hornet is a big old beastie in 1/48, here she is without her main wings fitted sat on a piece of A3 paper. I have also decided on a scheme, I am going to go with VAQ-135 "Black Ravens" as I like where the fuselage star and bar is located: ![]() More soon hopefully, thanks for popping in
