When you set up quest 2, cho hakkai is placed face down, unconscious.

Question - does he have full health or zero health for this set up?

Hi Khorgor. I hope you are enjoying the game.

Pilgrims become unconscious when they reach 0 Health Points, see "Defeated Pilgrims", page 39. So set Cho's Health Points to 0.

Hi, just playing for the first time and have started quest 2 but I must be doing something wrong as I can't see any way for Tripitaka to revive Cho Hakkai before he dies?

As far as I can tell, he is set up face down. Turn 1 maintenance phase he's turned to his side, turn 2 maintenence phase to his back and turn 3 maintenance phase he's removed as dead. That means Tripitaka has 2 Pilgrim phases to revive him (4 action points). He has a move of 3 meaning he can spend a maximum of 9 movement points (3 actions) to make sure he has 1 action point left to revive Cho. However, because he begins in water the shortest route to Cho is 10 movement points, providing Monkey and Monk Sha don't block.

That means Cho always dies and the pilgrims are always defeated...

Show me what I'm doing wrong please :)

I hope you can get going soon! We want you to have fun with the game.

I don't want to spoil the quest for everyone, so I'll just give you a hint, starting with a quote from the rule book where we talk about the costs for special squares:
Quote:

The extra costs are paid when you move or rotate into these squares.

You do not pay the penalty when you step out of a special square. Figure 28 should help you count the movement points moving in and out of water squares.
I'll mail you a diagram of a legal path if you PM me with an e-mail address.
