"Not the most attractive weapon system in the world. But it got the job done, still does."

From top to bottom: Infantry, Carbine, Sniper

10,000,000-Infantry

25,000-Sniper

Manufacturer/Designer: Nysala Vymok - Vymok Heavy Industry (later became the Vymok Design Bureau)

Erineos Republic

Moderate on Military Surplus Markets for Carbine and Sniper variant

Military Orders

Classification: Straight-pull Bolt Action Rifle

Projectile Type: Varying Ammo Types

Delivery System: 10 round detachable magazine

Ammunition Capacity: 10+1

Rate of Fire (ROF): 22 rounds per minute

Modular Casing: No (possibly not even conceived at the time)

Features: High reliability and strength of the rifle's design, magazine fed, bullpup style, straight pull bolt action

Materials: Main rifle components are made of steel, the stock and other parts are made of polymers

Production Cost: 785 (in 1910)

Advantages:

Low Maintenance rifle

Simple (can be used with little training)

Quick to produce

Fatal to unarmored targets

Disadvantages:

Bolt action

Vastly outclassed by any more modern automatic weapon

Heavier Recoil

Obsolescent compared to some modern sniper rifles

Ammo Types have to be carried in different magazines, due to the lack of an ammo block/shaver in the rifle and use of pre-formed rounds.

Somewhat lesser range than modern sniper rifles (Heavier round=greater projectile drop)

The round's accuracy is affected by wind and gravity moreso compared to the sand grain projectiles.

High heat buildup leads to issues with the system in hotter temperatures than cold weather (below freezing) environments.

Little effectiveness against more modern armor and shielding tech (unless you throw a lot of rounds at it)

Variants

Infantry - The most prolific variant of this rifle. This variant was made to arm not only the soldiers of the Thyserian Defense Force alongside other semi-automatic and automatic weapons, but also the civilians that may need to defend the homefront. It's widely available on the surplus market and is no longer in military service with the Erineos Republic. It's still popular with civilians on Thysera and ammunition is made for civilian purchase. These rifles were used in the Siege of Thysera alongside their replacements.

Carbine - Intended for use with the Thyserian Vanguard and Naval Marines of the Republic's military. This shorter-barreled carbine made it more suited for their duties. The rifle also saw use with armored crewmen as a defense weapon. These rifles are moderately available on the surplus market. About 2,500 of these rifles are held in reserve for emergency issue. These reserves and civilian owned rifles were used in the Siege of Thysera.

Sniper - While intended to become infantry rifles from the start, these sniper rifles were hand picked at the factory for their accuracy. Their iron sights were removed and replaced with a scope. These rifles have a higher capacity than some more modern sniper rifles and Defense Force Snipers, Vanguard Snipers, and CSS Snipers still consider this rifle to be a potent anti-personnel weapon. While a moderate amount of these sniper rifles are available on the surplus market, the Sniper Rifles are still in military service, albeit as a secondary rifle.

Description:

Though not the best choice of firearms in a more modern age, it was a better choice than a lack of arms in the Terminus Systems. Nysala Vymok, a retired Republics military officer who left for the Erineos Republic in its earlier years, saw the issue with the lack of arms taken in their colonization effort from the Republics proper. Being appointed the Ordinance General due to her armorer skills, she accepted the task to develop a rifle that was cheap, simple, and quick to produce to stave off pirates, mercenaries, and other threats.

The result was the .30 caliber Vymok Rifle. Prior to the nationalization of military industries within the Erineos Republic, Vymok Heavy Industry was awarded the contract to the rifle after additional changes were asked of the design. This also came with the need to manufacture .30 caliber slugs, as a great cost reduction came from removing the ammunition shaver mechanism and ammo block from the rifle.

The design no doubt proved a success as in 2200 it entered its 190 year service mark. Even long after the Thyserian Defense Force had moved away from the Vymok and other older weaponry, it still played a role in the defense of Thysera in some form, be it a Defense Force sniper or a civilian coming to the defense of her home. The latest major campaign that these rifles took part in was the Siege of Thysera and the resulting clean up operations as civilians armed with their personal Infantry rifles and Carbines joined the military in hunting remnant Husk forces for a bounty.

Despite the need to carry magazines, the lack of a shaver, and its heavy recoil, it's still a highly popular civilian firearm and while the Infantry rifle isn't known for its accuracy (a 3" group at 100m was considered "good") it's known for its ability to survive despite abuse and lack of maintenance; one small reason why some of these rifles are still in service so many years later.

CLARIFYING NOTE!!!!!

This is NOT a gunpowder based weapon. It uses pre-made .30 caliber slugs which are propelled via the same means as other ME weaponry. The round will not fly as fast as an Avenger's but will have greater knockdown power.
