EGA Rhuzad Superiority Fighter![]() Halo Broadsword Name: Rhuzad Superiority Fighter Designation: KIN-SF/I-02 Manufacturer/Designer: Nur Arack (Lead Designer), Empire General Assembly (Manufacturer), A’tai-Varyevic Design Bureau (VTOL Engines) Operator: Krogan Imperial Navy, Imperial Internal Affairs Availability: Exclusive Year Built: 2336-Concept 2345-Prototypes 2349-IOC with Imperial Navy, light production 2352-Mass Production starts Classification: Superiority Fighter Length: 66.3ft (20.2m) Wingspan: 64.5ft (19.7m) Height: 35.7ft (10.9m) Crew: -Pilot (1) -High grade VI (1, optional) Features: EGA Armor Plating EGA Military-grade Kinetic Barriers Advanced Thyserian Avionics VTOL Capabilities Production Cost: 16 Million Imperial Blite Powerplant: 1 EGA miniature Thorium Fusion reactor Propulsion: Two primary antimatter engines, two secondary antimatter engines, VTOL engine Armament: -[2] 35mm EGA Bloodrage Autocannons
-[2] Modular Anti-Air Ordnance Delivery Systems (MAAODS - Often phonetically spoken “Mods”)
-[2] Internal Missile Bays on fuselage for BVR Missiles (2 Active Stealth EGA Hailstorm missiles each) -[1] Thermonuclear bomb (Optional) -[1] Ion Cannon (IIA only) Advantages: Heavy armor while still agile Excellent maneuverability in atmosphere and space Smaller in size than the Nur (comparable to the Yakaievs and other fighters) Advanced avionics Disadvantages: Slight loss in atmospheric mobility (not enough to make it inferior) Larger radar cross-section from top/bottom due to design. No real ground strike capability outside of a thermonuclear bomb Variants: Navy: Standard model IIA: The Navy model, but additionally fitted with an ion cannon to disable starships that refuse to comply with orders. Also carries a more advanced communications suite that spans more frequencies than the Navy model Description: The Nur brought about much of the capabilities sought after by the Empire after the Krogan Civil War. Despite the great attributes it held, it was abysmal in atmospheric conditions. Many Imperial Navy pilots with the “honor” of taking a Nur in-atmo on anything larger than a small moon often described it as “trying to make a morbidly obese elcor balance on a unicycle in a cyclone”. Its lumbering size and powerplant affected by planetary gravity wells resulted in a constant struggle to keep the craft aloft and at speed, let alone engaged in combat. This made the Nur ill-suited for the Navy’s purpose in atmospheric operations in terms of combat. A second design was needed to further help the Empire reduce reliance on their vassals in the air. This came in the form of the Rhuzad, roughly translated as “Judge” in the Krogan language, a smaller design but a formidable fighter all the same. Nur Arack once again put his mind to work with this design shortly after completing the Nur Interceptor. Once again looking for a suitable fighter for use by Krogan, this was the resulting design. The Rhuzad was VTOL capable, allowing its use both in space and in atmosphere, and in regions where Thyserian fighters could not operate due to their conventional take-off and landing design. Like the Nur, the Rhuzad is a distinctly Krogan design in its visual appearance. ![]() The forward swept wing design of the Rhuzad is an aspect taken from the Thyserian YA-500 Saber, allowing it high speed maneuverability in atmospheric conditions despite its slightly bulky fuselage. The use of additional engines was also an inspiration from the Thyserian design: two large and two small anti-matter engines. Should one of the primary engines fail, it will still be able to fly in atmosphere; in space, the auxiliary engines provide additional thrusting power. It was a lesson Arack took away from his final dogfight in the Civil War against a Saber, seeing the advantage of three full-size engines gives to a fighter’s performance. Unlike the Nur, the Rhuzad’s smaller design affords it the capability of being used from Thyserian vessels in space. With the wings folded (as they can be for storage), the Rhuzad can be launched from the same launch tubes as the Thyserian fighters, unfold the wings, and fly into combat. In atmosphere, of course, the wings must be unfolded before takeoff. This gives this fighter the ability to serve across both navies, no matter the vessel design. ![]() The Rhuzad is mostly an EGA built vessel, though their vassals still provide a great boost to these ships. The Thyserians and their high grade avionics equipment are fitted to the Rhuzad, giving these ships instrument and computing capabilities to outmatch many Council fighters. A’tai-Varyevic also designed the VTOL component of the Rhuzad and builds this section of the engines for EGA where they are installed on the production line. Outside of nuclear capability with the fitting of a single thermonuclear bomb on the fuselage, the Rhuzad is a full superiority fighter. It is fitted with modular pods on each wing that gives the pilot access to a wide array of weaponry, fuselage weapon bays that allow for 2 BVR missiles each, and two 35mm Bloodrage autocannons for close encounters. With the Klixen and Thyserian fighters being an effective attack fighter, there is no reason for EGA to consider strike capacity for the Rhuzad at the moment. Credits: Halo for the Broadsword |
