- YES! And everything was going so well! The instructor was so nice. I drove at the speed limit. Traffic was light. They couldn't do parallel parking testing that day. The sun was shining! But I failed because of a few rolling stops! Apparently I'm supposed to stop completely for like 3 seconds. |

Heh, I rolled through two stop signs, apparently, as well as one stop light (not sure how that happens). I still passed, though. I don't think the watcher was able to dock anymore points for my rolling stops. I think I made one wide left turn (mostly due to being told I make sharp turns too often - ended up losing points for that bit of advice). Personally, I didn't think I rolled through two stop signs. However, as I've found out, things feel a little different to the driver. Also, I was criticized for not doing the parallel park in two movements. Not sure if I was docked any points for it, but I sure as hell wasn't going to risk hitting the curb instead of taking a little more time. My last mistake was slowing down in a school zone where children weren't present. All in all, I passed at the bare minimum on my first try, 80/100 (although the guy subtracted wrong for some reason and put 81). Consequently, I also passed the driver's permit computerized test at the bare minimum too. That was a rush... having to do 3-4 problems of which you had no idea to what the answers were, without missing any. On the last problem, eventually one of the monitors came to see what was holding me up. From her reactions to my logic towards what I thought were possible answers, I was able to determine what was correct. Well, that was a good experience. I suppose I should have studied and practiced for the computerized and driving tests. I have no idea why I always remember the things I did wrong on tests. I wonder if that's a viable study routine... taking tests just to get answers wrong and remember the problems better as a result. |

I was sick for my driver's test. See, I planned to take a sick day from school, so I wouldn't get in trouble for it, but then I actually got sick. REALLY sick. I was up the entire night with a sniffly nose. Then, at 8 in the morning, I decided to go in anyway. I could barely think straight, but I went for it. I barely passed the written test, but the driver's test was even worse. See, they gave us a car to use, and it felt TOTALLY different from my car, so I had a terrible time using the brakes and accelerating. It also backed up very poorly. But I thought I was done when he asked me to pull into a driveway circle. Then he asked me to "Turn around." See, in my sickly daze, I took this to mean, "Do a 3-point turn." So I did it. In the middle of a circle. Then he started off, "You know, NORMAL people would just...."Then he got kind of mad, and made me show where all the various buttons were. I did know those, at least. I really thanked him for letting me pass. We don't use a point system here. It's just pass or fail. Better luck next time, Jan. That's a real bummer.

- I was wondering if I was supposed to slow down in the school zone. No kids were out and there was a guy behind me, so going 25 would've annoyed him. - You know what the real problem was...I had a nice instructor. The kinda that said sorry when she told me to go left when she meant right. The kind that smiles and makes me feel relaxed. UNTIL THE END! Then they totally screw me over and don't even tell me my score. I want a mean guy next time! - Though I don't know when "next time" is. My parents are totally crazy. And my mom didn't sign up for the next test date on the 13th cause of superstition! Then we went into this whole thing... - And that kinda makes me love my comic story right now. This little runaway is totally going to happen. |

It's actually customary for watchers to not inform you that you've failed / are failing / etc. From what I recall, a driver's test is supposed to last 20-30 minutes - if at any time you're told to go back before that time, you've failed (they just don't tell you for their own safety). Really, how nice the watcher is shouldn't have anything to do with it... unless, of course, you're the type to try flirting with any cute woman. That'll probably land you a nice, quick fail. As for registering for the test, I think I had to stand in a month long queue after signing up for the test. Probably best to do it as soon as possible. As for (not) receiving your score, I'm not sure if that's normal. I was able to see mine, but mostly because I had to turn in the sheet to verify I passed, I think. |

Don't worry Jan, at least you weren't a minute late for your appointment. Things almost got messy in the DMV. Obviously parking isn't the first thing the watcher looks at, because that's what made me late to the appointment. None of the Idiots there for their driving tests could park in one space. And I'm trying to park a pickup truck. Next try, Oct. 24 |

I mock everyone about everything. Sometimes things go wrong. If I worried about Karmic retribution, I'd be very quiet. |
