speaking of immortality, no one would reach it by 2012 unless david blane is right and has the fountain of youth or someone makes the philosopher's stone |

Personally, all I think is going to happen in 2012 is people are going to panic like for "Y2K". Either way, the way people are getting riled up about this "2012 prophecy" thing, I can imagine the way people will react when that Dec 22, 2012 comes along, people will panic, riot, and even if no natural event occurs, the civil unrest will be a problem. So I'm going to hunker down and ride out the nonexistent disaster while people have panic attacks. Do you know how many times a whole society was convinced that the world was going to end, or it was going to be the 2nd coming of Christ, or whatever, and guess what... NOTHING HAPPENED. Yes, someday the world will be destroyed. My guess, it'll be the sun going red giant, or an asteroid will hit. But there's nothing I can do to stop any of this crap, so I'm not going to worry about an apocalyptic event, just prepare (and somewhat hope) for a Mad Max type of scenario. All I need is a '73 Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe. |

Because, that's not my style. Of course, I may use this to "acquire" certain useful items, but I am not a criminal. I protect and defend, not exploit and plunder. As long as the population is friendly. If not, all bets are off. |

Actually that 2012 thing is SEVERELY misquoted. its not the end of the world, its then end of the myan calender. do you see people going "OF GOD ITS DECEMBER 31st, THE WORLD IS GOING TO END SINCE THERE IS NOTHING LEFT ON THE CALENDAR!" although it is not coincidence that the calender ends on that day, its when they belive the world wont end, but will drastically change to the point to were you would no longer recognize it, not physically, but socially and technologically. Something along the discovery of agriculture, the invention of gunpowder, the discovery of electricity, or the creation of the computer. all things that drastically changed the world. the myans believed something like that would happen, but on a MUCH larger scale. we might be getting immortality much sooner then we thought. |

- I liked that story. I wish they weren't so strict with the whole triplet dilemma. - 40 million in the US in that story...that's about 13%. Assuming the world follows that number, then there would only be 780 million people. Yet, everyone volunteers when they die. How would you convince 5.3 billion people to die? - If the cure for death/aging is discovered, it'll be limited in the beginning. Only people who can afford it in first world countries would be able to afford it. There we go, 4 billion gone assuming there's a mass sterilization or hording of supplies from them. Over time, the cure would get perfected, cheaper and may even become mandatory like a vaccine. I estimate less than 50 years for that to happen. By then, I think we'll be floating around the 2 billion mark. Still another billion. I'm sure there's at least a billion who would be super religious and choose to die to go to heaven. Then there's people with morals who choose to die for other reasons. - I think it's all possible. Whoever finds the cure just has to be selfish in the beginning. Are you willing to ignore the lower part of the human pyramid? I am. But I expect war and protest to follow. - And since there's some 2012 talk, my comic's version of 2012 isn't going to end with an asteroid or nuclear blast. Cause, I really doubt the world will actually end. But stuff like that makes millions of dollars in movies. |

I'm preparing for the "war and protest" part. Sounds like a job for the items in my closet and knowledge in my head. I'm already stocking up on food and other supplies, so when people panic in 2012, I'll just hunker down in my house and outlast everyone else. Currently, I can last 3 months in my home without rationing food. Rationing would extend that to much longer. And even after the prepared food supply runs out, there are actually things I can hunt and eat here (as in I can stand on my back porch and see flocks of game animals go by.). And I think the Mayans just got bored and decided it was a waste to continue carving a calender past 2012. It wasn't like they could type a calender up on a computer and print it out in a minute. They had to carve out every day by hand. And so that nobody would ask why they stopped, they claimed the world would change (or end), so the calender would be useless past that date. |

Fun, yes. But we must remember what happened during Hurricane Katrina down in New Orleans. The gang members operated without police interference for quite a while. Looting and killings were common. Remember, that is the sort of event I formed the MRG for. Stick together and maintain as much order and sanity (our version) as possible. Those of you still in Vegas, Rusty has been appointed Commanding Officer of the Las Vegas Unit. I'm still MRG CO. Watch Red Dawn or Mad Max 2, Road Warrior. We will be up against forces like those in the post apocalyptic Mad Max world. Probably not as crazy, but just as ruthless. |

You have watched Road Warrior, right? The only one of those gang members with an IQ over 75 was their leader, who called himself "Lord Humongous". I would really love to have opponents like those guys. I could just pick them off at 500 yards with my Mauser and they'd never get close. And yes, I have that much ammo. |
