Either way, Invasion of the Mole People is on the fringes of relevancy of the original topic. I only mentioned it as a somewhat humorous sidenote. We really should try to stay closer to the topic at hand. So, this whole potential for underground research laboratories is interesting, isn't it? That could prove to be useful to overpopulated areas or areas that do not have sufficient space to or ability to grow crops. Underground greenhouses and living spaces could be a major breakthrough. |

Simple. Sunlight type florescent bulbs. My mother uses them to start her garden indoors when it's too cold to grow outside. |

Why don't we save time and just buy an old Cold War era bunker from the government. They even come with the old equipment. |

Plenty of space for expansion and projects. Good communication, isolated, likely to survive nuclear holocaust. What's not to like. Now we just need to scrape together 500K and we can have an ATLAS E bunker without a launch door or 750K for a 8800 square foot commo bunker (both in Kansas). Sounds fairly good to me. And ATLAS E bunker would be great because it's effectively a giant garage with a moving roof (Atlas E missiles were stored horizontally and rotated 90 degrees upward to launch, so the launch bunkers have a large garage door at one end and a full length door for a roof to launch the missile). So, who's in. This could work out better than Halfwing's self sustaining colony idea. The infrastructure is already there, it just needs population. |
