Fakemon Evolutionary Lines: One Evolution at a Time!
Welcome to Meme Van. It's a van full of memes. Not too much to say.
You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. That's even lower than "n00b" rank, and that's no good. Being a guest means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are some features you can't use. Man, even "n00bs" can post and shit. If you join our community, you'll be able to access member-only sections, and use many member-only features such as customizing your profile, sending personal messages, and voting in polls. I mean, you'll still be at the "n00b" rank, but hell, once you actually hang around for a bit, you might eventually become a memelord.
So if you're here, chances are you probably clicked on this out of sheer confusion based on the title and topic description...That or I linked it in the discord chat, one or the other.
Anyways, let's skip to the point to end that confusion: A few days back my cousin and I, huge fans of the japanese Digimon franchise, started up a game where one of us would sketch out a Baby II (or In-Training in english) form of a Digimon, then the next would sketch out a Child (or Rookie in english) form, then the next would do the same for an Adult form (Champion in the dub), etc.
Now, our results were...actually pretty amusing (went from ball of ice cream to big muscular ice cream demon with cone armour that shoots out missiles and an ice cream minigun, and from a small tiny lawnmower to a big ninja saw mech thingo), this stemmed from the fact that we were not allowed to explain our concepts to the other person, in other words, if he drew a Shuriken Digimon that sorta looked like a saw, he couldn't tell me "Oh it's not a saw it's a shuriken", which means I might interpret it wrong and draw its evolution differently.
Now here's a similar concept but reworked to fit in with the forum format and, of course, Pokémon! So slap that Evolution theme as we move onto the specific rules!
RULES
1. Basically, I will start with a vague prompt such as "The following evolutionary line must be two-stage Dragon type based on ancient mythology, but it cannot be chinese or japanese mythology, so get creative!", or "The following evolutionary line must be based around [Insert Ability Here]" or "The following evolutionary line must have a split evolution at the end, one person makes one last stage and the next makes the second!". Sometimes I might even add twists such as "The following person makes the final stage of a 2-stage Pokemon and the person after them makes their first form". 2. Then, the following person will make a brief form describing a Pokemon idea they had that fits in with the prompt, for an example of the form, check here:
Form Example
Name: (In this part you add the name of your Pokemon and in parentheses you explain how you pieced the name together). Typing: [Insert Primary Typing Here]/[Insert Secondary Typing Here] Abilities: (Can either be one mandatory one like Levitate or 2 options, if you want you may even add a Hidden Ability though that's optional). Appearance: (Simple description of how it looks, "Big furry neck, short stubby feet, pointy ears with flame symbols on the back", simple!) Evolution Method: (Only do this if you're the second or third stage, if you are then simply describe how to evolve it, it may be a unique method like "Levelling it up while Surfing or Fishing" or a simple one like "By Level-up" or "Through a Dawn Stone if it's male/female", if your method is "By level-up" then if you want you can specify at what level, though you don't have to). Moves: (COMPLETELY optional thing, in this one you mention, not all of course, but rather just a few moves it could learn, preferably particular moves that fit in with its design well or rather very strange moves it can get (like "This Bug-type gets Surf!" Though if you're gonna do this please add an explanation like "It uses the giant bulbs on its arms as floaties which allow it to swim very well" or something please). Stats: (Another optional thing, in this one you don't describe their stats EXACTLY if you want, you can just give out a brief description of how they work, like "This Pokemon is very specially bulky on the virtue of having a lot of Sp. Defense and even HP but it has mediocre physical Defense"). Inspiration: (Also optional and self-explanatory, you just list here how you got your inspiration to make this Pokémon based on the prompt)
3. After making their concept a reality, the main thing that separates it from "Create a Pokemon" appears: The next person must make an evolution/devolution to that 'mon that builds upon its design and even gives it new elements and typings! What makes this interesting is that the first person CANNOT say something like "I'd like its evolution to become a Dragon-type and gain leviathan features", nope, they can just post their form and if they want make comments/jokes about previous evolutions or talk about how coming up with the design was hard/fun, y'know, stuff like that (people that aren't participating may still make posts like these). 4. You may only talk about your planned evolutions (if you even had planned evolutions) once the final stage for your 'mon's line is up (like "Oh, well I had a leviathan concept planned in mind but I understand why you thought a Ground-type concept might work better!"), however, and this should be obvious, do not be rude to those who made the other stages of your line for not making exactly what you wanted (like "Are you two fucking kidding me!? I had this cool leviathan-style plan and I even laid hints on my character's design, and yet you turned him into a fucking Ground-type!?! It's like you shitheads don't know ANYTHING about mythology!"). 5. Once an evolutionary line is completed, the person who completes said line adds another prompt at the bottom of their post, however, make sure that it's not too restricting (for example, "Make a 3-stage Fire-type line that turns into Fire/Ground at the end based on the short-beaked echidna", is too restricting, so no to that, however, "Make a 3-stage Fire-type line based on mammals" is not), if a prompt becomes too restricting, I'll step in and tell the maker that it's restricting and suggest to them a couple of changes to make it less restricting, however, I doubt it will ever come to that...Or at least, I hope.
Oof, have you been listening to that Evolution tune while reading those rules? I tried doing so while TYPING them and I couldn't take it anymore after typing just the first rule, the games over the years have been trying to make the tune more catchy by adding background instruments but the original one will forever be annoying to me...Wait, what? Fakemon evolutionary line forum game? OH YEAH, ehem, cough cough.
I'm going to start by laying down the first prompt, a simple one to start off with: "The following evolutionary line must be a 3-stage line whose primary type is one of the 3 types introduced after Generation 1: Dark, Steel or Fairy, however, you may add a secondary typing of your choice".
I will participate in this game from time to time since I really enjoyed playing this with my cousin and i'm sure i'll have fun with you guys!
alright; first prompt: a 3-stage line that has psychic typing (you can add another type if you want) and must have at least 120 SpDef in its final stage
