Gojira(1954) and GKOTM(1956)

The Region 1 disc does appear to crop a bit on the sides, doesn't it?  Not sure which of the actually subtitles I prefer, but still think white would have been a better choice over the yellow.

For me I put more importance on the subtitles being spelled correctly and with intelligle translations, over their color, though I'm not downplaying the importance of the subtitle colors. It's just not as important to me as the spelling. shifty eyes

I had the DVD given to me as an.....Easter gift, a couple years back
There may come a day when, after asking if you have a certain movie title on DVD, you answer "no." That day however, I believe, may come a whole lot later than sooner. tongue-1

Latest DVD watched by Packmule: X-Men 3: The Last Stand. Lots of fun to watch! thumbs up

More from the realm of the absurd:

-in a dated story a German woman, in Zuelpich, Germany, inadvertently burned her house to the ground while trying to kill spiders in her garage: German woman takes pest control to the next level

-a WWII veteran has regained some site in his damaged eye after being head butted by a horse: Seeing is believing: man regains vision after being head butted by horse

-a grandmother buying her granddaughter a McDonald's Happy Meal, in New Zealand, found an unexpected addition to her order: Grandmother finds condom in McDonalds Happy Meal

-in Dallas, a witness involved in a courtroom dispute between two men was an ass, literally: Donkey testifies in courtroom dispute ( lol )

Thanks for your posts about your mom and Mother's Day, Kimi. Much appreciated. As I mentioned before, I am going to lock this thread now that Mother's Day has come and gone. Thanks again. :)

not sure if it's the leader of South Korea or North Korea, but the man has a collection of DVDs said to be over 25,000!

I've never heard that before. I have seen it posted on the internet, and in a magazine, that North Korean Premier Kim Jong Il is an avid Godzilla fan.

I don't see all habits as bad, but I have a few I wish I could reverse and as you said, it's a lot easier said than done
Some characteristics of me that I have to continually work on:

-impatience. I am too impatient regarding too many things, and it can have a tiring effect on your mind and body after an extended period of time.

-perfectionism. Too many times I want things to be exactly perfect, and I don't want to settle for anything else. I am trying to get away from this, and accept that things are rarely ever going to be perfect.

-temper. I still have one that rears it's ugly head too many times. I'm much better than I was, say, 10-15 years ago, but I still have a lot of room for improvement. This ties in, to some degree, with "impatience".

Savini is absolutely amazing, I love watching anything he's had a hand in.

Tom Savini is, IMO, nothing short of a genius in his area of expertise, that is. makeup effects. I also liked the gore gallery at Slasherama, especially the screen shot from Scanners(1981) of that guy whose head explodes. dancing cheeky smiley

Lee, isn't this the film (Captivity) that had adverts removed from buses and billboards, because of content?

Yes. Click the link to see one of the billboards you refer to:

The Official NFL Thread
Some people, including the author of this article, believe that the Green Bay Packers should cut ties with Brett Favre. Some good points are made in this article:

My own take: Packers GM Ted Thompson needs to have, and in the very near future if not immediately, a sit down(and man to man talk) with Brett Favre. I'm not sure what the result of such a meeting would be, but I have to believe having this meeting would be better for the Green Bay Packers and everyone involved than just simply sounding off in the media, which is what Favre, and to a lesser extent, Thompson, has done to this point.

And this to add to my NFL miseries: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6816928?MSNHPHMA ... freak out

The Official NBA Thread

And now the league has done it...they have just screwed over the Suns in what has to be the worst decision to ever come out of the front office. 2 Suns and 1 Spur Suspended  What really makes me made is that Bowen and Duncan should be suspended because they left their bench at a earlier time for the same reason but were not suspended....and not to mention Bowen is going around kicking and kneeing people as he pleases. Way to go NBA, one-side one of the best series of the damn playoffs

This was part of NBA exec VP Stu Jackson's statement regarding his reasoning for the suspensions:

"Historically, if you break it, you will get suspended, regardless of what the circumstances are."

And therein lies the problem. The league, that is, NBA Commissioner David Stern and VP of Basketball ops Stu Jackson, cannot, or will not take into consideration, the circumstances for each incident. Instead they simply use one standard, which appears, Trent, IMO to presume that any player leaving the bench for any reason is judged to have done so to participate, or help perpetuate the hostilities. This policy is narrow-minded, inflexible, and I believe absolutely ******* ridiculous. The sooner the NBA commissioner accepts that professional basketball ain't a garden party the better. What is an NBA player on a bench, just having observed a teammate body checked hard into the scorer's table during the heat of a playoff game, supposed to do? Apparently, David Stern and Stu Jackson believe a player should simply stay on the bench and sip from a water bottle, or just sit back in their chair and fold their arms. Me, I'd get up to at least help my teammate get back to his feet. If doing this is going to garner me a fine, then I would gladly pay it...every time.

Kevin Hench, of Fox Sports was, IMO, right on the money about the suspensions, in this article: http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/6814904

... in fact I wish the media would just start to ignore him but that will never happen
With Terrell Owen's long history of controversy and onfield(and off) theatrics reporters are always, IMO, going to be licking their proverbial chops at the prospect of getting some "quotables" out of the Dallas WR. There's an old Shakespearean expression, Trent: "Tis better to be thought a fool and remain silent than to speak and erase all doubt." Too bad Terrell Owens never familiarized himself with this quotation. confused

The Official "Hammer" and "Amicus" horror film thread
May 15 2007, 10:06 AM
For them to entice Lee back into the cloak, they'd REALLY have to do a faithful version of Stoker's novel.  That was Lee's one complaint at Hammer, they got further and further away from the story and he wanted to do a very faithful adaption of the film.  Still, to see Lee's name in the credits for a new Hammer film....that would be awesome.

I'm guardedly optimistic about this development Kimi. If John De Mol and his Cyrte Entertainment Group are fans of the classic "Hammer" films and truly want to revive the "Hammer Horror" franchise, then I believe we can expect to see some great horror films in the future. If this entertainment company is only interested in making a buck, then IMO we won't.

Perhaps not as bloody as today's offerings
Or the remake, also called The Toolbox Murders. Have you seen the remake, Kimi? I watched it when I subscribed to Netflix. Many of the killings in the updated version are very grisly-one victim dies from having acid poured on his face. freak out

More "Fortean" news:

-in Trenton, NJ suburbanites fear a panther may be on the loose: Year Of The Cat: Panther on the prowl in NJ?

-Miami, FL has earned, for a second year in a row, the title of "Worst Road Rage City" in the United States: Miami vice: city named road rage capital of U.S. again

-a Pennsylvania woman, inspecting the fence in her backyard, made an unusual discovery: Pennsylvania woman finds dynamite in back yard

Lastly, more strange laws that are, for reasons I'll never understand, still on the books in these states:
Alaska-"It is illegal to provide alcoholic beverages to a moose."
California-"It is illegal to set a moustrap without a hunting license."
Connecticut-"It is illegal to educate a dog."
Florida-"It is illegal for a man to wear any kind of strapless gown."
Illinois-"It is illegal to fish in pajamas."
Indiana-"Monkeys are forbidden from smoking cigarettes."
Kansas(the city of "Lang")-"It is illegal to ride a mule down Main Street in August, unless the animal is wearing a straw hat."
In summary: crazy
