Consider that the human characters fooled the aliens into shooting into an artistic mural, the weapon discharge ultimately contributing to the destruction of the alien's hideout and base of operations in the 50 meter tall tower. I'm supposed to believe the aliens looked at the mural and believed they were shooting their weapons at the actual humans. This contrivance, IMO, stretches my "suspension of belief" to the breaking point.
