I think I was quite young, the first time I saw this film on TV, so I think that had a lot to do with my immediate enjoyment of the film....the huge fight in the mud, the run-down scene between Wayne and O'Hara and the 'happy' ending all scored big points in my eyes. I think I still enjoy it as much, today, but probably for different reasons, mainly the nostalgia associated with my first viewing. I like a lot of Wayne's films, even, Hellfighters, which most fans seem to despise or at least the fans of Wayne that I run into.

I always thought it was hilarious when the comment was made that they thought, Candles was dead, too.....jsut the look on his face, each time he heard it, cracked me up.
