I believe this movie, while having some corny comical touches was paced well and is a great introductory film for young viewers
Agreed. I don't think this would be the best "Godzilla" movie to introduce first time viewers of the monster to, but it's nowhere near the worst either.

I still love the scene where Godzilla emerges on the baby Minya and Kamacuras and kicks their butts to rescue the baby
Agreed.

I thought the "puppeteering" of the Kaiju bugs was handled well and their movements were believable
An interesting scene, and a logistics challenge for Toho's special effects crews. The wireworks staffers overhead, and obviously out of camera view, had to manipulate ten wires per Kamakiras, thirty total, and without getting them tangled up or caught on the appendages of the insect monster props. I thought the effects people did a marvelous job here with the wireworks. thumbs up

The snow scene at the end still pulls at the heartstings for me, even now
Indeed, a very nice touch, watching Godzilla protect the smaller monster from the elements. No doubt Godzilla stepped to the plate in this film, saving Minya from both the Kamakiras and Kumonga, then teaching the small kaiju how to deploy his flame breath, and of course the ending. Though I have never been enamored watching Godzilla, in a film, portrayed as a protagonist or anything close to it this movie is the exception for me. My view of Son Of Godzilla(1967) has improved greatly over the years and I now enjoy watching the DVD of this film once or twice a year.
