Thanks Josh. thumbs up Indeed. It's being called the college football upset of the century. Appalachian State, a small, division I-AA school located in Boone, North Carolina, is a member of the Southern Conference and has won the last two I-AA national titles(I-AA has a 16 team single elimination playoff annually to detemine its champion). "App State" has been a perennial I-AA playoff team since the 1980's-my alma mater, The Citadel, is also a member of the Southern Conference. The Mountaineers proved that I-AA teams can compete, even defeat the I-A teams(with generally more depth and larger lineman) on any given day. There have already been calls for Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr's ouster, which I think are justified. The Wolverines were clearly not prepared to play well this past Saturday, which is the head coach's responsibility. The Wolverines, who were ranked #5 in the nation when they were defeated by Appalachian State, will surely drop to the bottom end of the top twenty, if not out altogether. I expect the Wolverines will bounce back, perhaps win 8-9 games this year. That said their national championship aspirations flew out the window when they lost at home to a I-AA opponent. Hook em.
