Probably too high. Hawaii is coached by June Jones. The offense of the Rainbows is, as always, very good. Their defense is, as always, very mediocre and often bad. They might, Josh, but I still wouldn't bet on it...that is if I were a betting man. ( ) The WAC, Western Athletic Conference, has long had, and justifiably IMO, a reputation for fielding a lot of teams with great offenses and soft defenses, one reason why so many WAC teams are often pummeled by opponents from stronger conferences like the PAC-10, SEC, Big 12, ACC and Big East. I like BYU and Air Force but I doubt if either of these teams could hang with power teams from the other aforementioned conferences. If I remember correctly the last WAC team to win a national title was in 1984 when BYU did it. I still would like to see either an 8 or 16 team single elimination playoffs in I-A football. It was posted today that Nebraska AD Steve Pederson was fired, presumably because of Nebraska's blowout home field loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 45-14. There have been, actually, calls for Steve Pederson's ouster, and head coach Bill Callahan's, since Nebraska was blasted the week before by Missouri 41-6. There is no doubt that Nebraska, right now, and for the past five years, has fallen a notch in it's previous standing as a national powerhouse. This team has surrendered 40+ points to opponents in its last four consecutive games. Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan just recently signed a five year extension. Prediction: Callahan's contract will be bought out at the end of this college football season. |
